House EL52

The EL52 Single-Family House explores how contemporary architecture can integrate into the landscape without imposing itself, seeking beauty in the honesty of materials and the purity of lines. Located in a privileged setting in Galicia, this work is structured around an L-shaped floor plan that prioritizes privacy, thermal comfort, and natural light.

A Spatial Concept Based on the Inward-Facing Facade

The design of the EL52 House stems from a deep analysis of the site and its orientation. The decision to organize the program in an “L” shape serves a dual purpose: protecting the domestic space from external views and directing the home’s life toward a central landscaped core.

This configuration allows the social and private wings to converge at an angle that embraces the pool and garden, creating a protected microclimate. Architecture here acts as a filter, where the exterior facade appears solid and secure, while the interior facade dissolves through large glass panels that visually eliminate the boundaries between the living room and the lawn.

Interior Design: Minimalist and Sensory Warmth

Upon crossing the threshold of the EL52 house, the user is welcomed by a large-scale space where the sloped ceiling not only adds visual drama but also promotes air circulation and the entry of zenithal light.

  • Furniture as Architecture: One of the most distinctive elements is the continuous wooden cabinetry that runs through the day area. It is not a simple decorative element; it is a functional piece that integrates storage, seating, and shelving, freeing up the rest of the space and providing a warmth that contrasts with the exposed concrete flooring.
  • The Integrated Kitchen: Conceived as the nerve center of communal life, the kitchen blends with the dining area under minimalist technical lighting.
  • The Master Suite: Located at the far end of the private wing, it offers direct views of the pool, ensuring the first contact of the day is with water and greenery.

Noble Materiality: Stone, Wood, and Concrete

At vi17, we believe that luxury lies in the quality of execution and the choice of materials that improve over time. In the EL52 project, we have chosen a neutral color palette rich in textures:

  1. Concrete and Stone Panels: Used in the exterior volumes for their durability and their ability to dialogue with the Galician environment.
  2. Natural Pine Wood: Applied to the entrance pergola and interior cladding to humanize the space.
  3. Hidden Profile Joinery: Ensuring that nothing stands between the inhabitant and the landscape.

Sustainability and Energy Efficiency

The EL52 House was designed under bioclimatic architecture criteria. The large wooden pergola and the roof overhangs are not merely aesthetic; they function as solar control elements that protect the interior in summer while allowing low winter sun to enter. Thanks to high-end insulation and aerothermal climate systems, the house achieves the highest efficiency standards, significantly reducing its carbon footprint and maintenance costs.
